Alfred E. Souders, 64, of Linton, passed away at 4:53 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born Oct. 12, 1938, in Linton, he was the son of Loris and Anna Pearl (Franklin) Souders.
He was a coal miner at Amax Coal Company's Minnahaha Mine before retiring in 1994. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and the Gold Wing Rider Association
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Jean (Knowles) Souders of Linton; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy (Souders) and J. Ken Wright of Linton; son Tony Souders of Linton; six grandchildren, Jeffrey, Scotty, Josh Souders, Maggie Souders and Abby and Molly Wright; one brother, Kenny Souders of Linton; and three sisters, Rosemary Fordyce, Annette French and Brenda Scott of Linton.
He was preceded in death by son, Jeffrey E. Souders; two sisters, Barbara Targett and Joetta Turpin; three brothers, Everett, Lyncie, and Henry Souders; and his parents.
Funeral services will be at Anderson-Poindexter Linton Memory Chapel at 1 p.m. on Wednesday with pastors Eddie Egbert, Jason Dean and Bob Dickey officiating. Burial will follow at Stafford Cemetery at Sandborn.
