He served his country honorably in the United States Navy during WW II and before retiring to Deming he worked on farms in Arkansas, Arizona and California until 1994 when he, his wife and daughter moved to New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Claris Evelyn (Stracener); infant son, Charles Sloas; three brothers; one sister; one son-in-law; and several nephews.
Troy is survived by four daughters: Linda Brown of North Little Rock, AR; Evelyn Delaney of New Waterford, NS Canada; Barbara Sloas of Deming; and Shirley Rasberry of Deming; one son, Gene Sloas of Trumann, AR; one sister, Marie Birmingham of Traskwood, AR; 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and a second great-great-grandchild on the way.
Pallbearers were: Chris Rasberry, Matthew Sloas, Cooper Lang, Sabrina and Francisco Dominguez, and Jimmy Vasquez.
Honorary bearers were: Claud Rasberry, William Delaney and Orville Northington.
