Hortense G. Bancroft, wife of Havey Bancroft, died very suddenly at their home in Guilford Tuesday morning, September 28, at 11 o'clock, aged 46 years. Mrs. Bancroft was the daughter of Newton and DeFrances Shoales and was born in Plymouth. She leaves her husband, two children, Burton and Ardelle, three sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Edna Shelton, Mrs. Louise Vandeusen, Mrs. Elsie Shelton, Morell Shoales, Hoys Shoales and Elwin Shoales and an aged father, her mother died seven years ago. Funeral services Saturday at one o'clock at the house. Rev. A.R. Burke officiating. Burial in Mt. Hope. (Published in the Telegraph Friday, October 1, 1915)
