Audrey E. Baker Mrs. Audrey E. (Segers) Baker passed away quietly at home in St. Georges, DE on Monday, November 8, 2004, with her family, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. A lifelong resident of the St. Georges area, Mrs. Baker was very active in the preservation of open spaces that were affected by development in her part of New Castle County. An active member of the Republican Party, she worked the polls in every election. She was a past member of the Board of Directors of the St. Georges Historical Society. Mrs. Baker was employed with Stapleford's Chevrolet and Oldsmobile for 35 years, first as a school bus driver and later as a driver trainer and dispatcher. She was a voracious reader, with a wealth of knowledge in all areas.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Clarence G. Baker; 4 children; a brother of Anchorage, AK; a sister of Bear; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am on Wednesday, November 17, 2004, at St. Paul's R.C. Church, 209 Washington Street, Delaware City. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810 or to the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA), 2720 River Road, Des Plaines, IL 60018 (800-886-2282 or www.abta.org).
