Obituary on funeral home web site: Kathleen "Kitty" Bishop, 89, of Lexington, entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 13, 2011, at her residence, the Presbyterian Community of South Carolina in Lexington. Born September 17, 1921, in Lexington County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Crosson and Amanda Shealy Sease. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Columbia and was active in the Joyful Disciples Sunday School Class and the Go-Getters Senior Group. She was a charter member of Virginia Wingard Memorial Methodist Church, where she taught kindergarten in the Week-day School Program for 17 years. She retired from the S.C. Law Enforcement Division after 10 years of service.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Jesse B. Bishop of the home; a brother, Earl Sease of West Columbia; a daughter, Barbara Pitts (Walter) of Valle Crucis, N.C.; two sons, Joseph B. Looney Jr. (Gail) of Newberry and David W. Looney (Cindi) of Lexington; stepsons, Gary M. Bishop of New York, N.Y., James E. Bishop (Barbara) of Tampa, Fla., and Kirby Bishop (Ann) of Columbia; grandchildren, Kathy Pitts, Scott Pitts and Bryan Looney; step-grandchildren, Kyle Bishop, Katie Bishop Wechsler, Jeffrey Bishop, Beverly Bishop Botelho and Levina Bishop; and four step-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph B. Looney; brothers, Armond, Ray and Carlisle Sease; sisters, Grace McMillan and Mildred Strang. The funeral service for "Miss Kitty" will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011, at Westminster Presbyterian Church of Columbia by the Rev. George T. Head and Dr. Fran Bragan. The interment will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens in West Columbia. Honorary pallbearers are Harold and Mable Amick. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel in Irmo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1715 Broad River Road, Columbia, SC 29210 or Virginia Wingard Memorial United Methodist Church, 1500 Broad River Road, Columbia, SC 29210.
