She had attended the Indiana Normal School and graduated from Indiana High School. Following high school she worked as a clerk at the former McCrory's Department Store. Shortly after her marriage, she and her husband, Clarence, opened the DeVinny Jewelry Store in Homer City.
However the job she was most proud of was that of a mother and homemaker, caring for her daughter, Becky.
Martha enjoyed working in her flower garden and making projects at her crafting classes.
She was a retired member of the Civil Air Patrol in Indiana, which was something she had shared with her husband.
Martha was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Indiana where she had previously been active in many church activities and projects.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Titterington and her husband, Harve of Scottdale. She will also be missed by her brother-in-law, William Anderson of Indiana and by her two grand-dogs, Sami and Gretchen.
Martha was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Ruth Blonde, Alice Nicewonger, May Sanford, Howard Sanford and Helen Edmiston.
Friends will be received Tuesday, May 21 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, of Indiana. A second visitation will be held Wednesday morning from 10 AM until 11 AM at the Christ Episcopal Church, 902 Philadelphia Street, Indiana. Her funeral service will begin at eleven o'clock following the visitation hour at the church. The Rev. William Geiger will officiate. Interment will be private and held at a later date at the Oakland Cemetery.
