Mary Elizabeth Byerly, 88, passed away September 1, 2011 at her home in Des Moines. She was born May 23, 1923 to Earl and Edith Sales in Centerville, Iowa. Mary worked as a secretary for the State of Iowa for many years and enjoyed knitting.
Mary is survived by her sons, Dennis (Cindy) Byerly of Winona, Minnesota and Mike Byerly of Kingwood, Texas; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth and two brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. followed by burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Mary.
