BOURBON - Thelma Janet Hall, 97, of Bourbon, Indiana, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2011, at 4:30 P.M. at home in the care of her family and Hospice. Thelma was born the daughter of Urben Roahrig and Coral Banks Roahrig on November 27, 1914, at Bourbon, Indiana. She was a resident of Bourbon all her life. She was a 1932 graduate of Bourbon High School. She was a homemaker, farmer's wife, and owned Hall's Western Store of Bourbon for many years. She also worked at GMAC Associates of South Bend. Thelma had many interests that included being the co-founder of the Silver Dollar Saddle Club, tremendous supporter of 4-H, and served as secretary to the Bourbon Fair Horse Superintendent. She and her husband were the first people in the area to raise Quarter Horses and they enjoyed belonging to the Frances Slocum Trail Riders (Diamond X Campground) of Peru. She also was a member of the Yellow River Club, Home Ec Club, and enjoyed reading and watching the antics of the dog, cat and Canadian geese. She was a caretaker to everyone! On December 23, 1934, she was married to Chester O. Hall, who died November 30, 2002. She is survived by her four children, Margaret & husband, James Bates, Janet Trowbridge, Chester (Chet) and wife, Jane Hall, and Stephen and wife, Rose Ann Hall, all of Bourbon. She also was blessed with 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, three step-great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marilee and Alvin Eugene "Gene" Koontz of Ft. Wayne. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Guy Roahrig. In honoring her wishes, a private burial was held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
