Lenora Emma Crane Redus, 85, a resident of Victoria, Texas and a former longtime resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Saturday, December 3, 2011 in Austin, Texas after a long illness. She was born in Mathis, Texas to Newell and Vera Adams Crane and was the eldest of three daughters. She was a faithful member of First Christian Church, Kingsville.
Mrs. Redus was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Alton "Sonny" Redus; parents, Newell and Vera Adams Crane; and son-in-law, John Alexander.
She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Karan Redus-Cockrell (Dan Cockrell) of Inez, Texas, Butch Redus (Shareen) of Huffman, Texas, Mickey Redus (Valerie) of Baytown, Texas, Kay Mahan (Dennis) of Austin, Texas and Sandy Alexander of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Marie Wright of Kingsville, Texas and Nelda Bridges of La Porte, Texas; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 8, 2011 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Terry L. Neel officiating. Burial will follow in Kingsville at Resthaven Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 1900 S. Brahma Blvd., Kingsville, Texas 78363 or to a charity of one's choice.
She was an avid homemaker and enjoyed cooking, sewing and painting. She enjoyed big family functions and took great pride in raising her children and grandchildren. She spent many hours making quilts for her loved ones and also enjoyed crocheting. She will always be remembered for her love of chocolate and her family.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
