Marie Crane Wright, 92, of Concan, Texas passed away peacefully at the place she loved most, the Frio River on June 12, 2021. She was born in Kingsville on October 12, 1928 to Newell and Vera Crane.

Marie graduated from H.M. King High School in 1946 and attended Texas A & I University where she was the Drum Major from 1946 to 1947. She married N. L. (Red) Wright on December 20, 1954 in a double wedding with her younger sister Nelda and S.T. Bridges.

Marie spent several years working in the County Clerk's office in the records department . In the 60's Marie and Red opened Wright's Mobile Home Park and together owned and managed it for more than 45 years. She was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church where she and Red were very involved through leadership and education, specifically working with young couples to create solid Christian homes. Marie was also known for her artistic flower work at Calvary Baptist, where she designed and arranged altar flowers every Sunday for many years. She loved working with her hands, whether it was cooking for family and friends, designing flowers, sewing clothes for her children, gardening, or working alongside Red daily at their home and business. She was known to be one of the hardest working women you would ever meet and rarely met a challenge she was not willing to take on. Marie and Red were also members of Ricardo Baptist Church, and at the time of her death, she was a member of First Baptist Church in Kingsville.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents Newell and Vera Crane, her husband N.L. (Red) Wright, her sister Lenora Redus, and her son-in-law Dusty Eaton.

She is survived by her four children Lisa Eaton of Concan, Texas, Randy (Karen) Wright, Reba (Bob) Szteiter, and Jana (Scott) Irby all of Kingsville. She was also blessed to be known as Mimi to ten grandchildren, including Patricia Bates, Tim Wright, Laura Lee Peterson, Mike Wright, Brooke (Brian) Rogers, Laci (Luke) Bernal, Bayley (Cale) Applegate, Shelby Szteiter, Braden Irby, and Kylee (Logan) Muehlstein. Marie was thrilled to have seven great grandchildren: Jonathan Koltys, James Bates, Wyatt Bates, Melanie Wright, Maci Rogers, McKenna Rogers, and Chyles Applegate. Marie also has many nieces, nephews, and cousins who were very important to her.

Marie is also survived by her youngest sister Nelda Jean Bridges of Weatherford, Texas. Marie had the privilege of spending six years living with Nelda and having adventures that took them from Houston to Leakey to San Antonio. They spent lots of time thrift store shopping, eating out, laughing about old times, and enjoying each other's company. Marie always asked Nelda "Are we going to rip and tear today?" If the answer was yes, Marie would promise Nelda that they "could end the day with a sweet treat and a cold drink!" The family would like to express their unending gratitude to Nelda for her love and care of their mother during these last years of her life.

In the final months of her life, Marie was blessed to live at the home of her daughter, Lisa Eaton, on the beautiful Frio River .

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021, from 5pm to 8pm at Turcotte Piper Mortuary. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at First Baptist Church at 10am. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
