Aubrey Calvin "Cal" Raynes, 78, of New Carrollton, Md., died Monday, March 7, 2005, at his home.

Mr. Raynes was born July 23, 1926, in the Lynnwood community of Rockingham County, and was a son of the late E. Lester and Eva Mobray Raynes.

He was a sales manager for B&B Automotive and was a Navy veteran of World War II.

In June 1950, he married Janet Marie McCallister, who survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Raynes of New Carrollton; three sons, Gregory Calvin Raynes of Riverdale, Md., Henry Clay Raynes of Deale, Md., and Timothy Lee Raynes of Greenbelt, Md.; two sisters, Laura Mathis of New Market and Salley Jensen of Grottoes; two brothers, Daniel Raynes of Charlottesville and Luther "Pat" Raynes of Harrisonburg; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Jason Raynes will conduct the funeral 1 p.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Service in Grottoes, where the family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Friday. Burial will follow at the Mount Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Capital Hospice.
