Bernice M. Rodewald, age 96, a resident of River Wood Estates, Manitowoc, died
Saturday afternoon, April 24, 2010, at Rivers Bend Health & Rehabilitation
Center, Manitowoc.
She was born on Oct. 28, 1913, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Wiliam and
Emma (Dusold) Bartel. Bernice was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School
with the class of 1931. On Nov. 21, 1942, she married Richard Hiller. He preceded
her in death on April 5, 1961. Bernice later married Emmet Rodewald on May 11,
1963, in Morrison, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1994. She was
employed with the Herald Times Reporter in Manitowoc as the assistant circulation
manageer for many years. Bernice was a member of the Ladies Homemakers of Newton
and the Grace Circle at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. She was
also a member of the Lakeland College Auxiliary, White Trail Homemakers and the
Business and Professional Women Association.
(Survivors omitted for privacy.) Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
also survive.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers-in-law: Milton Rodewald, Elroy
Rodewald and Oliver Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Grace
Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Rapids Road, Manitowoc. Officiating at the
service will be the Rev. Thomas Pankow, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery,
Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Grace
Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service
at 11 a.m.
Memorials may be given to the Lakeshore Humane Society, Inc.: 1551 N. Eighth St.,
Manitowoc, WI 54220.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral
arrangements.
