Richard Hiller, 65, of 1901 Western Ave., Manitowoc, rural route driver
and solicitor for the Herald-Times, Manitowoc newspaper, died unexpectedly
of a heart attack at noon Wednesday at Kellnersville.

Richard Hiller, 66, of 1901A Western Ave., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly at noon
Wednesday of a coronary attack at Kellnersville. He had been in the village on
business for The Herald-Times and died in his car. He was a driver-solicitor for
the Manitowoc newspaper.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John Evangelical Church
(United Church of Christ), Manitowoc, with the Rev. Paul H. Blaufuss officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Hiller was born Aug. 4, 1894, at Nienburg, Germany, son of the late Max and
Caroline Eggers Hiller Sr. He came to the United States as a child with his
parents and resided in Minnesota before coming to Manitowoc where he attended
public schools.
He married Berniece M. Bartel at Manitowoc Nov. 21, 1942, and in recent years
had been employed by The Herald-Times as a driver-solicitor in the circulation
department. He had served as undersheriff in 1935-36 under his brother, Max
Hiller Jr. Mr. Hiller had been a member of the Knights of Pythias and the Eagles
of Manitowoc.
Surviving are his wife, a brother, Curt, of Rt. 4, Manitowoc, a sister, Miss
Margaret Hiller, of Manitowoc and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 3 p.m. Friday until
11 a.m. Saturday when the casket will be moved to the church where the body will
lie in state until the hour of service.
