Former Elkhart Resident Dies

Cromwell B. Quarles, 64, died at 5:25 a.m. Monday in the Veterans' Hospital in Waco where he was admitted after suffering a heart attack.
He was a locomotive engineer for Texas and Pacific Railroad at Waco.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Elkhart Baptist Church with the Rev. U. Van Sickle officiating, and burial in Pilgrim cemetery.
Mr. Quarles was born and reared in Elkhart and was a veteran of World war I.
He was not married.
Survivors are three brothers; Clifford M. of Tyler; Carroll A. of Fort Worth; and Jack Quarles of Freeport and seven sisters; Mrs. I.M. Gammage of Elkhart; Mrs. L.L. Taylor of Waco; Mrs. Lena Q. Mullins, Mrs. Fred Gillespie and Mrs. Erskine Holcomb, all of Houston; Mrs. Charles Marlatt of La Marque and Mrs. A.M. Thaxton of Dallas.

Cromwell B. is the son of William Breckenridge and
Sallie Cromwell Quarles.
He would be the grandson of W.W. and Eliza C. Neal
Quarles and J. W. and Jennie Hunter Cromwell.
He lived at 3789 Westerman, Waco, Texas.
