Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery. The remains of the deceased reached Shreveport Thursday afternoon over the V. S. & P. railroad.

The Monroe News-Star ran a lengthy article reporting details of the accident: Luther A. Polette [age 28 in the article] was employed by oil rig contractor R. E. Allison when he was killed at the Commercial Oil & Gas company's well No. 2 near Fairbanks in Ouachita Parish. Allison told the coroner, Dr. Gray that Polette was caught in a rope around the "cat head" on a line shaft. His sleeve became entangled with the rope and drew him into the machinery. He lived about 10 minutes after the accident. Polette's father was at the time, an engineer on the Kansas City Southern railway residing at 1608 Park avenue in Shreveport. [MNS; Jan 11, 1918 page 1]
