A prosecutor with the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office died Monday morning; committing suicide by jumping from a downtown Salt Lake City building, police said Tuesday.

Salt Lake City police Detective Greg Wilking confirmed the victim was Chad Platt, and that "it was a suicide."

Platt's death was believed to have occurred at about 5:30 a.m. Monday, Wilking said.

Police said his body was found near the street at 81 E. 300 South, below a parking tower, and near where the DA's offices are located.

Platt attended the University of Utah and was admitted to the Bar in 1999.

Platt, who was never married and has no children, is survived by family members in Arizona.

Many are the family, friends, and colleagues who would rush forward to offer unconditional love and forgiveness, if only it would bring you back.
