Betty graduated from Anderson College and earned her Masters at Ball State University. She was a teacher of English at Warren Central High School from 1958 until her retirement in 1984. She was the first recipient of the "Because of You" Award for Warren Township Schools and a member of Order of Eastern Star, Cicero Chapter.
Betty served her country as a Navy WAVE during World War II.
Betty is survived by her son, Thomas A. DeVol, D.D.S. and his partner, Jeffrey Kent O'Berry; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Nora Belle Tharp and Mary Jane Hilton and her faithful West Highland Terrier, Angie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas L. DeVol and 7 siblings.
