Marion Arthur Palmer, 78, of Barnes City, died at the Mahaska County Hospital Thursday night. Palmer was the son of Marion and Lizzie Scott Palmer. He was married to Mabel Buckingham who died in 1953. In 1959 he married Phyllis Wolfe at the Little Brown Church. He operated a grocery store in Barnes city for a number of years.

Palmer is survived by his children, Darwin Palmer of Barnes City; Mrs. R. V. (Dorothy) McConkey Jr., of Denver, Col., Mrs. Carl G. (Marilyn) Riggs of Tingley, Ia.; stepchildren, Gordon Wolfe of Oskaloosa, David Wolfe of Tacoma, Wash., James Wolfe of Lebanon, Ore., Mrs. Lyle (Retha) Peters of Dubuque, Ia., Samuel Wolfe of Lebanon, Ore., Mrs. Lena McGew of Keokuk; 26 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon. The Rev. Don Richards will officiate. Burial will be in the Barnes City Cemetery. Palmer was a member of the Masonic Lodge AS & AM.
