She is survived by her sons, Joe Lewis (Anita) Davenport of Murfreesboro and Hugh Russell Allen of Woodbury; daughters, Annie Lou (Robert) Mathis of Woodbury, Linda Faye (George) Manus of Woodbury and Glenda Marie Hendrixson of Woodbury; brothers, Ray (Mary Helen) Murphy of Dowelltown, Roy Murphy of Bradyville; sisters, Magaline Davenport of Gassaway, Arlene (Larry) Sanders of Woodbury and Betty Vickers of Woodbury; ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Mrs. Allen was born and raised in the Sycamore Community of Cannon County. She was a member of the Sycamore Baptist Church. She was one of the middle children of a large family. Growing up she and her sibilings worked on their family farm. She always grew a large vegetable garden and let her children help with it. Mrs. Allen loved to cook for her family and enjoyed white beans and cornbread. She liked to listen to old gospel and country music. She never went anywhere with out her Bruton Snuff.
Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 from 2-8 PM. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 in the Smith Funeral Home chapel at 1 PM. Richard Williams will officiate. Interment will follow in the Sycamore Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Activities Room of the Woodbury Health and Rehab Center.
