In 1900 he lived with his parents in a house at 813 Main Street in Allegheny City, PA that they rented. There must have been two apartments in the house, as there was another family listed. His father was a carpenter--see his page for details about the changing street names through the years.

In 1910 the three of them lived in a house that they were renting at 823 Main Street--perhaps they had moved five houses down from where they had lived in 1900. His father was a merchant, a retail grocer.

In 1920 they lived in a house at 923 Wettach Street, and the household was as described on his father's page.

In 1930 they lived out at Minteer's Tavern, although with Prohibition in effect they couldn't use that name, and Harry was shown as the proprietor of a barbecue stand, same as his father. He and Viola and their daughter Martha were listed first, then his parents and his two adopted sisters.

In 1940 he lived with his wife, three children, father, and two adopted sisters at Minteer's Tavern at 2811 Lincoln Way in White Oak, although all the census showed for a street address was White Oak Level Road, with no house number. He was the restaurant owner, and it was valued at $3500. His father was the handyman for the restaurant. Pauline "Betty" and Bernadine were waitresses at the restaurant, and had earned $656 and $650, respectively, for their 52 weeks of work in 1939.

In 1950 he, his wife, their two youngest children, and his father lived there at Minteer's Tavern. He worked as bartender and general manager of the restaurant, tavern, and dairy, with an income in 1949 of $3000 for 52 weeks of work. Marie worked as a waitress in the dairy store.

He and Viola had planned to do some traveling after they retired, but he didn't live long enough to get to do much, if any.
