He died at Mercy Hospital of Streptococcal Meningitis, with Acute Mastoiditis as a contributory cause.

By 1925 the family had moved to number 1102 on what was then Fayette Street, but is now North Avenue. So little Billy would have known the inside of that great old house quite well.

The picture of the house was taken in 2011, when the house was in rather rough shape. Several windows were boarded up, and it had obviously been empty for some years. A woman I saw nearby told me that a friend had told her that the house was haunted, and that the ghosts of an old man and a young girl were often seen inside.

By the summer of 2012 the outside had been painted, most of the windows had been replaced, and several apartments in the back of the house were occupied. The front part of the house was still being worked on, apparently for use as a business, although it may be all for apartments.

By October of 2014 it was fully occupied in three apartments.

The portrait of Billy himself hung on the wall in what was first his sister Martha's home, then his niece and nephew, Mary and Bob Hester's at 1515 Beaver Street in McKeesport, PA.
