MRS. EVA PEADRO IS KILLED BY AUTO in st. Petersburg

A telegram was received by relatives here Sunday night, stating that Mrs.Eva Peadro, a former Arthur woman had been struck by an automobile and fatally injured in St.Petersburg,Florida about 6:30 pm that evening as she was crossing a street on her way to church. A second telegram was received about 7 oclock Monday morning stating that Mrs. Peadro was dead. Two of Mrs. Peadros brothers, V. H.McDonald of this city and John McDonald of Decatur drove to Mattoon Sunday night and took an Illinois Central train at 2 oclock for the Florida city.

The body of Mrs.Peadro will be brought to Arthur for burial. The time of the funeral is of course uncertain but it is likely it will be conducted Sunday afternoon from the Vine street Christian church here.

Mrs. Peadro who was sixty years old, was a daughter of the last J. F.McDonald,a pioneer and wealthy land owner of Jonathan Creek township. She, herself had large land holdings in Moultrie county as well as owning considerable property in St. Petersburg and a valuable resident in Champaign. She was a graduate of Eureka College and of the Boston Conservatory of music and was a very intellectual cultured and refinded woman. Mrs. Peadro was an ardent church and Sunday school worker and was greatly interested in the University place Christian church and the desciples Foundation at the University of Illinois to which she gave generously of her time and means.

Mrs.Peadro was the widow of the late Benjamin F.Peadro, former county superinendent of the schools of Moultrie county. Together they toured Europe and Mr.Peadro lectured extensively on their trip to the Holy land.

Mr. Peadro died in their St. Petesburg home about two years ago. His body sleeps in the Arthur cemetery and Mrs. Peadro will also be buried there. The deceased leaves four brothers, V. H,.Dr. C. H.and Frank McDonald of Arthur and John McDonald of Decatur.

The body of Mrs. Peadro is expected to arrive in Arthur Saturday night according to a wire received Wednesday, and plans have been completed to hold the funeral Sunday afternoon at 2:30 from the Vine street Christian church. Rev.W.B.Hopper, pastor of the church will have charge of the service. The following gentlemen will officiate as pallbearers: O.L.Howell,A.L.Fulfer,S.L. Winn, H.M. Rigney c.D.Robinson and Albert Walker.

No details as to how Mrs. Peadro met her death have been received up to the time of going to press other than the Chicago Tribune carried a brief story Wednesday that the driver of the death car fled from the scene at the time of the tragedy.
