Ruby was born on May 7, 1918, in Stonewall, Oklahoma, to A.P. and Jennie Elizabeth McCurdy Gray. She passed away on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Texoma Medical Center.

Ruby lived a wonderful life that revolved around her love of God, her family and her friends. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who always had a kind word, a warm hug and room at her table for one more. Ruby enjoyed square dancing and music, watching movies, piecing quilts and playing games on her computer, but most of all, she enjoyed lunch with her friends at "the Center" and shopping with Thelma and Sue.

In a journal to her grandchildren, Ruby wrote, "Our life is probably not what you would call exciting, as we never traveled to far-off places, never saw beautiful things, but we really didn't have to, we had it all in our own back yard. Every day of our lives was a new experience. I guess we just weren't smart enough to know we were missing anything. Having our family and being together was excitement enough."

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Norvil Cranford, her parents, brothers Oather Gray, Arte Gray, Joel Gray, Arlie Gray and an infant sister.

She is survived by sisters Mary "Sis" Kee, Hector, Ark., Inez Sims and Ethel Hackworth, both of Garland, Texas.

Ruby and Norvil were married on Oct. 5, 1935, in Ada, Oklahoma. The lived the majority of their married life in Durant and later years in Calera. Ruby is survived by her five children, Carol and Bob Ware, Kingsland, Texas, Jerry and Mary Cranford, Irving, Texas, Pam and Loyd Manners, Calera, Eddie and Carolyn Cranford, Achille, and Susan and Eldon Rogers, Norman, Oklahoma. Her grandchildren are Karen and John White, Deer Park, Texas, Denis Cranford, Irving, Texas, Sherri and Ron Weishaar, La Porte, Texas, Tammy and Craig Jensen, West Des Moines, Iowa, Julie and Jimmy Smith, Durant, Jennifer and Dale Kelley, Norman, Oklahoma, Tony Cranford, Achille, Oklahoma, Brad and Amy Manners, Dallas, Texas, and Nathan Rogers, Norman, Oklahoma. Great-grandchildren are Dayna White, Trina White, Haley Jensen, Cole Jensen, Josh Smith, Jordon Smith, Joey Smith, Sierra Manners, Braden Manners, Tiffany Cranford, Chris Kelley and Kaylyn Tucker. Ruby was fortunate to have the love of many nieces and nephews and dear friends.

Family visitation will be at Coffey-Murray Funeral Home at 6 p.m. today. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, at the First Baptist Church in Calera, with interment at Highland Cemetery, Durant. Brother Jacob Toews and Mike Bates will officiate. Pallbearers are Dave Cranford, Bryant Gray, Eddie Wagoner, Dale Wagoner, Thomas Manners and Neal Manners with Virgil Short as the honorary pallbearer.
