Gladys O'Nell Lynn, born July 21, 1930 in Cameron to Dewey and Fannie Arvilla (Haggard) Simmons.

On June 1, 1948, she and John Martin Lynn were married in Tanglewood. To this union three daughters were born.

Gladys was a homemaker. They lived in Lexington since May 2008 and were formerly of Pasadena. She was a charter member of Monument Baptist Church in Deer Park since 1951. She loved children and was very active in the church nursery over 45 years and active in all church activities. Gladys loved to drive and would take seniors to places that they needed to go, which made her known as the 'Taxi Driver".

Gladys passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009 in the Scott & White Hospital in Temple, reaching the age of 78. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jones Lavon Simmons.

Surviving, her husband of 61 years John Martin Lynn of Lexington. Three daughters, Rita Beth Stephens of Lexington, Katherine Sue Carter of Lexington and Teresa Ann Sturm of Austin. Two sisters, Mary Louise Witte of Brenham and Nola Jean Luetge of Brenham. Four grandchildren, Crystal Heather Klepetko, Mandy Kaye Shank, Jeremy Brian Tyler and Gregory Allen Carter.

Visitation will be 5PM to 8PM Sunday, July 5, 2009 at the funeral home in Rockdale.

Services, 10:00 AM Monday, July 6, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial in the Hugh Wilson Cemetery in Tanglewood, Texas.
