The Children Went Home—And Surprised Their Mother on her Eightieth Birth Anniversary. Mrs. Sarah Ann Zeigel-Lutter, who resides with her son Eugene at Wiota, Wis., was quite taken by surprise last Sunday by all her children excepting one returning home in honor of her eightieth birthday anniversary. This present were her son Eugene, of Wiota, Mrs. S.G. Beebe, of Wiota, Mrs. G.W. Stevenson, of Wiota, Charles, of Nora, Ill., and Mrs. Wood, of Wiota. A daughter, Mrs. Lamont, of Chicago, was unable to be present. The children gathered at the home one after another, Sunday afternoon, and spent the evening and until an early hour next morning in feasting and rejoicing. An elegant supper was served which was gotten up entirely by the visiting daughters. Excellent music was furnished during the evening by the Wiota quartet club, which added greatly to the pleasures of the evening. Mrs. Lutter was the recipient of numerous little mementos and souvenirs from her children in honor of the occasion. Mrs. Lutter is a sister of L.T. Ziegle, of this place. She was born in York, Penn. in 1819. She was married to John Lutter in 1840 and in 1844 they removed to Wiota where for about five years Mr. Lutter engaged in tailoring. He then opened a general store there which he operated for about thirty years. He died in 1881. Seven children were born of the union, all of whom but one, a daughter, are living. Mrs. Lutter is remarkably active for her age and takes a keen interest in the passing events of the day and the times. She is pleasantly situated and is most highly esteemed by a large circle of friends and acquaintances. She had no knowledge whatever of the intended surprise on the the part of her children and did not surmise the pleasure in store until after they began to arrive. She enjoyed the visit as much as anyone present and entered keenly into the joy of the reunion.
