Former School Head Scott D. Lowe Dies.

Scott D. Lowe, 79 of 1665 South Fourth, former superintendent of Bannock County Schools, died early today in Bannock Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.

Mr. Lowe was born on April 14.1894 in Franklin, Idaho to James G. and Eliza Donay Lowe. He Married Nellie Webb in the Logan LDS Temple on May 25, 1921.

He was reared in Franklin and Preston and attended Oneida Academy, graduated from Brigham Young College in Logan, Utah, and Albion State Normal School in Idaho. A veteran of World War I, he served with the U.S. Army (CPL U.S. ARMY WORLD WAR I) in France. After the was he attended the University at Beaune in France.

Mr. Lowe was the principal of schools in Banida, and Central, Idaho, then in 1927 moved to Tyhee where he was the principal of the grade school for several Years. He moved to Pocatello in 1941.

He was superintendent of Bannock County schools for 16 years from 1935 to 1951. During these years he consolidated many small schools in the county into eight and instituted the first hot lunch program. He also established the first Bannock County Health Unit.
Following his term of office as superintendent of schools he was director of the auto license bureau for six years.

Mr. Lowe was a high priest in the sixth ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He had been superintendent of Sunday school, an instructor of stake missionaries, and music director many times as well as other positions in the church.

He was a musician, both a vocalist and violinist, and made his way through college playing for dances and singing at various gatherings. He was a member of directed Choral groups in the area and was a member of the Old Time Fiddlers. He made violins, guitars and ukeleies. He enjoyed his hobby, which included teaching children in the neighborhood to play musical instruments. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his widow of Pocatello; a son, Raymond Scott Lowe, Pocatello; two daughters, Mrs. William (Jeane) Harten, Idaho Falls and Mrs. George (Merle) Haroldsen, Salt Lake City; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, four brothers, Glen, Salt Lake City, Utah, Carlos, Grace, Cyrill, Soda Springs, ID and Rulon, Fairview, ID ; seven sisters, Mrs. Eldon (Marie) Darter, Provo, Utah, Mrs. Lydia Geddes, Pocatello; Mrs. Lillie Leavitt, Mackay; Mrs. Rhea Orgill and Mrs. Jennie Huff, Draper, Utah; Mrs. Erma Woodward, Franklin, ID; and Mrs. Lucie Gibson, Grace, ID.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Manning Funeral Chapel.
