Hugh Alvin Longino Jr., 85, of Roby and Port Aransas, died Nov. 21, 2009 in Roby.

Longino was born on Nov. 14, 1923 to Rev. Hugh Alvin Longino and Ella Belle Simkins in Higgins.

A recent high school graduate at the start of World War II, Longino worked in an aircraft manufacturing plant in Detroit, Mich.

In 1947 he graduated from Mc- Murry College in Abiliene with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

He later worked for Raytheon in El Paso in their Missile Systems Division. At the White Sands Missile Range, he was a pioneer in the development of missile system computer testing programs.

Longino was an avid hunter and fisherman who spent winters on the Gulf Coast.

In Port Aransas, he attended Community Presbyterian Church.

Longino was preceded in death by his parents, his son Tom Longino, a brother Ted Longino and his wife Josie Longino.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Claire (Shirley) Longino, a brother, Harold Longino, a sister, Lenore Mc- Guire, three children; Jeff Longino, Margaret Galanin and David Longino, six stepchildren; Sharon Cottle, Dennis Sanders, Shirley Oates, Debra Gobar, Robert (Buz) Rasberry and Peggy Rasberry and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
