Beatrice E. (Lessig) Gale, 76, of Grove, passed away quietly on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at the Neighborhood Hospice Inpatient Unit in West Chester.
She was the beloved wife of George W. Gale, sharing 52 years of marriage together.
Bea was born on Feb. 27, 1933, and raised in West Chester.
She was the daughter of the late Clarence F. and Naomi Hashinger Lessig.
She was an honors graduate of West Chester Joint High School, class of 1951.
She was employed as a secretary at Schramm Manufacturing Co. and Grocery Store Products Inc. After raising her family, she returned to work at the Allister Manufacturing Co., retiring after 20 years.
During her retirement years, Bea enjoyed group travel trips, especially times on the Mississippi River paddlewheel boat, American Queen.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Gale is survived by her children, Charles A. of Allentown and Robin J. Burns and her husband, Keith, of Coatesville; brother, William C. Lessig of Panama City, Fla.; sisters, Dolores L. Ellis, wife of Samuel of West Chester, and Shirley L. Trego, wife of Harold of Lionville; and grandchildren, Gregory P. and Kathryn E. Madrigale.
A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, where family and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment will be in Grove Methodist Cemetery, West Chester.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1834, Merrifield, VA 22116-8034.
