No service will be held for James P. Lesher, 79, at his request. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lesher, who was born in Tacoma, died May 2. He worked as a shipyard iron worker and served as a merchant marine during World War II.

In 1966 he owned and operated King's Pet Shop with his wife, Helen, in Long Beach, Calif. In 1968 he and his wife moved to Freeman. In 1972 they moved to Spokane and managed the Odell Hotel and the Helen Apartments for several years. His wife died in 1989.

Survivors include two daughters, Marsha and Linda Schwarz, both of Tacoma; two stepsons, Robert Pierce of Spokane and Randy Pierce of Rockford; a stepdaughter, Teri Pierce of Spokane; and two grandchildren.
