Mrs. Bessie Florence Champ, 44, Purgitsville, died Tuesday, March 26, 1968, at her home. Born in Landes, she was a daughter of William and Myrtle (Alt) Layton, who survive. Also surviving are her husband, Quentin A. Champ; seven sons, Charles E., Roger D., Jimmy D., and Andrew W. Champ, Purgitsville; John S. Champ of California and Berry D Champ, Romney; a daughter, Miss Judy Champ, Purgitsville; three sisters, Mrs Cornie Carr, Mt. Storm; Mrs Ralph Elosser, Winchester, Virginia; and Miss Myrtle Layton, Maysville; three brothers, Golden Layton, Rawlings, Maryland, David Layton, Keyser and Ralph Layton Maysville and two grandchildren. A service was conducted at the Lahmansville Church Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Rev Rogers officiated and burial was in Lahmansville Cemetery.
