LUCILLE JANE KOEHLER PILLSBURY DAUGHTERY

Lucille, age 90, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2016 in Visalia, CA. Lucille was born March 5, 1926 in Osceola, Nebraska, the third daughter of the late Walter and Ella Liehr Koehler. At 14, Lucille moved to Inglewood, CA. so that her parents could join the war effort by working in the aircraft factories.

Lucille graduated from Inglewood High School in 1944 and when her family moved back to Nebraska after the war, she remained in California, as she had met the love of her life, Roger Pillsbury, a decorated WWII veteran of the US Navy. Roger and Lucille were married in March of 1948 in Oakland, CA. and enjoyed 33 years together until his passing in 1981. During this time, they lived 5 years in Michigan and then in Hayward and Eureka, CA.

After Roger's passing, Lucille enjoyed working at Simpson Paper Company until 1989, when she retired and moved to her favorite place, the family mountain property on the Trinity River west of Redding, CA. In 1988, she married Joe Daugherty, a fellow Simpson employee, and enjoyed 18 years of sharing the mountain way of life with their many shared children and grandchildren. Lucille remained at Trinity until 2007, when she moved to Visalia.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Lucille was preceded in death by her four-year-old daughter Paula, her sisters Ruth Lynch and Helen Johnson Rutter and her adopted brother Milton Knapp. Lucille is survived by daughter Pamela Corliss and husband Bill of Exeter, CA and son Patrick Pillsbury and wife Diane of Chico, CA. Other survivors include 6 grandchildren and a great granddaughter.

A private graveside service to celebrate Lucille's life will be held on December 23 at Lone Tree Cemetery in Hayward, CA, where Lucille will be laid to rest with her husband and daughter.
