US SONS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION states that Bridger Jones was born 11 Aug 1753 in North Carolina and died between 1 May & 1 Nov 1819 in Bulloch(now Candler Co., GA).

His son, Bridger Jones, Jr. b. 1 Jan 1814 - d. 7 Jul 1894 married 1st Susan Denmark b. circa 1821 - d. circa 1856 & were married in 1840.

His son Berry Jones b. circa 1785 - d. 1821 married Rebecca Wise b. circa 1790 - d. (unk), & were married in 1809.

"In 1815 he bought and moved to a large plantation in Bulloch (now Candler) County between the Ten and Fifteen Mile Creeks on the Canoochee River, near the present day community of Excelsior. Bridger lived at this location until his death in September, 1819. He and his wife, Rachel, who died in 1830 were buried in a family cemetery on his plantation. This cemetery has been destroyed."

"James Jones, father of Bridger Jones, Sr. (1759-1819) and Sarah Jones (1757-1779) was a tailor by trade. He married Mary Bridger, daughter of Robert Bridger (1689-1764), and granddaughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Norsworthy) Bridger, al of Isle of Wight County, Virginia. After Mary's death (before 1764) married Rebecca (last name unknown) and moved with his family from Isle of Wight County, Virginia to Swansboro in Onslow County, North Carolina, dying there in 1780.
On April 10, 1780, Rebecca Jones (widow) and Bridger Jones (son) appeared in Onslow County, North Carolina and applied for letters of administration on the estate of James Jones. A sale of his goods was held on April21, 1780. Bridger Jones, as administrator, returned an account of sales on his father's estate on July 10, 1780."

"Bridger and Racheal had nine children: Barry "Berry", Mary "Polly", Racheal, Bridger, Jr., John Thomas Briant, Josiah, Bazil, Buckner and Nancy Ann."

BRIDGER JONES (1759-1819), SON OF JAMES JONES AND MARY BRIDGER, A DAUGHTER OF ROBERT BRIDGER WHO WAS A GRANDSON OF COLONEL JOSEPH BRIDGER (1628-1686, COUNCILOR OF STATE IN VIRGINIA TO KING CHARLES II OF ENGLAND. JONES SERVED IN THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION AS A SEAMAN IN THE GEORGIA NAVY AND LATER AS A CORNET IN THE MILITIA OF NORTH CAROLINA WHERE HIS FATHER HAD LOVED HIS WIFE WAS RACHEL BARRY (1762-1830), DAUGHTER OF JONES BARRY AND MARY NOBLE, A DAUGHTER OF SAMUEL NOBLE OF CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. BRIDGER AND RACHEL CAME HERE IN 1806. HE WAS A JUSTICE OF THE BULLOCH COUNTY COURT 1808-1813. THEIR CHILDREN WERE BERRY, MARY, RACHEL, BRIDGER, JR., JOHN THOMAS BRIANT, JOSIAH, BAZZEL, BUCKNER, AND ANN. AFTER HIS FATHER'S DEATH BERRY DEEDED TO THIS CHURCH SIX ACRES INCLUDING THIS GRAVEYARD WHERE FAMILY MEMBERS ARE BURIED.
