Mrs. Constance Millen Jones, retired educator, passed into rest on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family and friends. The Bulloch County native worked in the public schools systems of Bulloch County for many years. Mrs. Constance M. Jones received her early childhood education in the public school systems of Statesboro. She later received her Bachelor's Degree from Florida A & M and a Master's Degree from Armstrong and Savannah State College.

She began her teaching profession in the Bulloch County School System from 1953 – 1957. She later taught in the public school systems of South Carolina, Winnsboro, S.C. (1958 – 1960) and in Columbia, S.C. (1961 – 1964). Mrs. Jones later returned to Bulloch County to finish her teaching career from 1964 –1975. During her career she also served as vice principal at Julia P. Bryant Elementary School and taught at Northside School (William James Middle). She was a former member of the Bulloch County Board of Education serving District #8 from 1990 to 2000. During her tenure on the Bulloch County Board of Education she served as Vice Chairman of the Board.

Mrs. Jones was a former president of the Etta Gamma Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, Order of the Eastern Star Cape Jessamine #86, past president of the Royal Savings Club, the Rain or Shine Club, Bulloch County NAACP, the Bulloch Retired Educator's Association where she served as president elect, 2002 – 2003 and parliamentarian, an active member of the Georgia Retired Teacher's Association, a board member of the Bulloch County Alcohol and Drug Council, served on the Funeral Service Advisory Board of Ogeechee Technical College and the Georgia State Auctioneer's Commission; which she received an honorable proclamation from Gov. Zell Miller in August of 1999 for her services rendered. As a faithful member of the Greater Bethel A.M.E Church, she exemplified her Christian roles as the president of the Roxie Butler Women's Missionary Society, president of the trustee board, local treasurer of the layman's organization, West Savannah area chairperson of the Old Georgia Conference Women's Missionary Society, participated in the Church Choir and many other church roles. Mrs. Jones also was a proud recipient of the Deen Day Smith Humanitarian Award in 1996.

Surviving relatives to cherish her memory are: one sister, Gloria A. Lovette, New York, N.Y.; two nieces, Diane Kim Lovette, Los Angles, Calif.; and Natasha T. Lovette, Bridgeport, Conn.; several great nieces, great nephews, many loving cousins, the Greater Bethel Church family other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Constance M. Jones will be held 1 p.m., Monday, February 26, 2007, at the Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Leon E. Smith pastor/officiating and the Rev. Julius Abraham eulogist. Internment will be in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
