Cuba Jernigan Austin, born March 10, 1932, in Baker, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2011 at North Okaloosa Medical Center. Cuba resided in Baker her entire life and was preceded in death by her husband, L. D. Austin; parents, Joseph and Ida Jernigan; brother, Hubiesaw Cobb and sister Bonnie Peaden.
Cuba is survived by her son, Douglas (Cowboy) Austin; daughter, Marian Austin; sister, Katie Lee Austin; sisters-in-law, Dean Holloway and Audry Austin; numerous nephews and nieces including Jerry Kilcrease and Rhonda Brown; special friends, Joan Moss, Roy and Sonya Wicker and her little dog Peaches a.k.a. (Turkey Snout).
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12 in the chapel of Brackney Funeral Service with Mr. Glenn Dotson, a close family friend, officiating. Burial will follow in Pyron Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
