Philomina "Phil" Ackerson, 76, of Geneseo died on Friday, January 27, 2006 at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31st at Wright Chapel Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, 405 W. 1st St., Geneseo. Deacon Harley Chaffee will officiate. Burial will be in North Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Wright Chapel where a service by the Women of the Moose will be held at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Philomina Ackerson Memorial Fund.
Philomina Ignacio was born March 20, 1929 in Hilo, Hawaii the daughter of Alexander and Violet (McKeague) Ignacio. She married Harold "Gene" Ackerson on Feb. 2, 1950 at Sand Island Chapel, Honolulu, Hawaii. He died on Sept. 8, 1992. The couple had lived in Atkinson, IL for 29 years before moving to Geneseo in 1979. Philomina had worked as a waitress for 33 years at the former Deck Restaurant in Geneseo.
She was a member of Women of the Moose #577, Geneseo and the College of Regents, Geneseo VFW Auxiliary, St. Malachy's Catholic Church and the Friendship Circle.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Gladys and Rich Kropp, Geneseo and JoAnn Swank, Libertyville, IL; a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Sylvia Ackerson, Golden Valley, AZ; grandchildren and spouses, Ronni and Shea Wren, Jami Murray, Kevin and Heidi Stanfield, Damien Kropp, Bryan Swank, Jesse Swank, Danielle and Jeff Lee and Cory and Jamie Sellers and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
