Eva was the second child of Chaplin and Ellen Morrison Huss. She was a school teacher before her marriage. She taught at the Powers school, west of the Dawley school. She married Charles Jacob Ruth on September 21,1886 at the Chaplin Huss home. They were married by the Reverend CE Barnes, Eva and Charles went to Denver, Colorado where Charles was engaged in the mail service. After a year they returned to Ballville where they lived and farmed Charles father's (Jacob) farm until Charles died.

Eva and Charles had three children: Ward Chaplin, Palmer Jacob, and Raymond Charles. After Charles death Eva and her son's moved to Chaplins home and Eva kept house for her father.

She married Lewis Hess a farmer. They lived on the Greensburg Pike near Millersville about 1911 or 1912. Lewis died and Eva sold the farm. She then moved to Fremont, Ohio.

Eva then married Nelson "Nelt" Huss her father's first cousin. Eva and Nelt moved near Mongo, Indiana were Nelt was born and lived there until Nelt sold the farm and they moved to Fremont, Ohio.
