Ola Ellen "Tudy" Armstrong, 76, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015.
Ola, the tenth child of Joseph Hooser and Vyda Bowden Hooser, was born on April 30, 1939, on the sandy plains and cotton fields of Girard.
She graduated from Girard High School in 1957, the largest class, with only 13 students. Life on the farm was hard, but it taught her the basis of the ideals she followed her entire life: Obey God. Pray always. Family is a treasure. Friendships are a gift. Serve willingly. Smile easily. Laugh often. Remain humble. After high school, she moved to Midland, where she worked for the U.S. Geological Soil Survey.
She married Arnold Von Armstrong on July 4, 1963, and bore three children, sons, Randy and Ronnie, and daughter, Robbie. In 1964, she and Von moved to White Settlement, where they have resided for 51 years. She was a member of Living Waters Assembly of God.
She was predeceased by Randy in August 1969. Ever the devoted wife and mother, she enjoyed being a homemaker until her children started school. Then, by happenstance, she found her niche and began a 27-year career with Quik Sak Grocers. Those who came for a quick purchase found a warm smile, a kind heart and a beacon of hope. She had the ability to draw you in, make you feel special, lighten your burdens, then tell you about the love of Jesus, often praying with you on the spot. She could be trusted. From then on, you were her friend. Countless lives have been impacted by her goodness. After she retired, she continued to inspire people by sharing her testimony of God's miraculous healing power and amazing grace which sustained her through many serious medical conditions. This precious lady carried many titles, but none were more important than "Child of the King." She also wanted to express her gratitude to her special friends and prayer partners for many years, Jean Bolf, Shirley Burns, Nancy Sweet, Norma Griffith and Marsha Warren. Family was the center of her life and while she is rejoicing in heaven with some now, she remained devoted to all of her brothers and sisters, their spouses and children, in-laws, cousins and extended family deeply. The most lasting legacy to this special lady is to pray for those around you, give a smile no matter how you feel, share what has been given to you and remain humble. We will surely miss you evermore but we'll see you after while.
Survivors: She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 53 years, Von Armstrong; son, Ronnie Armstrong; daughter, Robbie Armstrong; grandsons, Brian Armstrong and Brandon Menzies; granddaughters, Scout Armstrong and Brittany Menzies; great- grandson, Tanner Randall Armstrong and Trinity Bailey; her special girls whom she entrusted to love her children the way she did, Kathy Manfredi, Janie Menzies, Suzie McClendon and Victoria Pitts; her brothers, Travis and Sue Hooser, P.E. and Barbara Hooser, Arnet Hooser and Mary and Paul Drennon.
