She was born on Dec. 2, 1950, in Charlottesville and was a daughter of Dorothy Downer Herring of Charlottesville and the late Curtis Herring.
Mrs. Ash moved to Mount Crawford eight years ago from Charlottesville and was a member of the Greatest Freedom Ministries in Harrisonburg. She had attended the First Assembly of God Church in Charlottesville and the Potter's House Worship Center in Harrisonburg. She was a data processor at Rockingham Mutual Insurance Company in Harrisonburg.
On June 5, 1984, she married James 'Jimi' Ash, who survives.
Surviving in addition to her mother and husband are a son, Johnny Morris of Troy; a stepson, James Ash Jr. of Page County; two stepdaughters, Dee Dee Worley of Louisa and Sarah Houghtaling of Verona; a brother, Bill Herring of Lake Monticello; a sister, Donna Graham of Louisa; 10 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Burial was in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg.
