Effie Allen 98 , passed into her savior's arms on (March 24, 2012)
Effie was born in Bell County KY, she lived in Keokee and Appalachia most of her life.
She was one of the founder's of "Allens of Appalachia" department store.
She was preceded in death by her husband Philip Allen, two brothers Louis and Frank Hensley, four sisters Nannie, Sally, Mamie Ellen, Almara, a grandson Thomas LoBiondo II, one great grandson James Chappell Whitfield.
She is survived by her loving children William Clayton Allen and wife Jean of Keokee, Wanda LoBiondo and husband Tom of Smith KY, James Vernon Allen wife Joann of Dandridge TN.
She had nine grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren, twenty four great great grandchildren, and one great great great grandchild, along with a host of special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday (March 28,2012) from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m.
at Holding Funeral Home (17 E 3rd Street) Big Stone Gap VA
The funeral service will be conducted following the visitation, in the funeral home chapel, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Josh Hensley, of New Riverside Baptist church .
The interment service will follow in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be great grandsons, led by Richie Morris.
Memorial contributions may be made to the New Riverside Baptist Church (59 Langford Rd. Smith Ky, 40831)
