I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys. As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters. As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste. He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love. Song of Solomon 2:1-4

Our mother, Bernice Elizabeth Hennig took her seat at the great banquet table in heaven on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 surrounded by most of her children. She was joyfully reunited at the table with her husband Raymond I. Brysch, parents Albina and Leo Hennig, brother L.C. Hennig, sister Frances Mary Greenwood, grandson Scott Norman, and great granddaughter Samantha Lyn Soules.

She is survived by daughters Orlean (Willie) Henicke of George West, Mary Vaughan of Temple, Beth (Mike) Smith of Pendleton, OR, Barbara (Ray) Meyer of Floresville, Ruth (Bill) Haley of Western Grove, AR, Jean (Bill) Cecala of Lago Vista, Bonnie (Don) Reeves of Edna, Regina (Rusty) Bowsher of Monett, MO, and son Ray Brysch of Midland. She also leaves, to miss her renowned Sunday meals, 21 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren as well as her sister Theresa (Bob) Huebner, brother Roger (Lynn) Hennig, and sister in law Jo Ann (Elwood) Meischen.

She was lovingly cared for in her brief illness by Viola Gonzales and Linda Cantu.

The most precious thing to our mother was her family. She liked nothing better than having the voices of many children in her home and around her table. She married our father, Raymond, on June 24, 1947 in Mathis and started her home and family in the LaParra area. She was a homemaker, for many years, helping with the workings of the family farm and creating a warm, loving home.

After the family moved into their home in George West, she began working at L.S. Morrison's dry good department where she eventually worked in the office as a bookkeeper. She then was employed by the City of George West as City Secretary. After several years with the city, she worked for Central Power and Light Company in their Three Rivers office.

She was a life-long Catholic and was a member of the Altar Society for many years. She was also in the Ladies' Auxiliary of both the VFW and American Legion, serving in various officer capacities through the years.

She spent over a decade on the benches of the George West gymnasium cheering her children on as they played basketball and another decade cheering on many grandchildren. She was also a 4-H leader.

Rosary will be recited Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. and funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. all at St. George Catholic Church in George West. Burial will follow the mass at St. George Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers are her grandchildren: Evonne (Charlie) Barbaro, Amy (Andrew) Baldwin, Lynette (Jerry) Soules, Leslie (Rod) Rodriguez, Alissa (Rex) Walton, Kimberly Smith, Dale Schick, Michelle Meyer, Marvin (Nicole) Meyer, Monica Meyer, Levi (Helen) Haley, Mollie Norman, Joshua Coquat and Mandy Thomas, Camber (Brien) Alexander, Jordan (Jessica) Coquat, Cristin Cecala and Cecil Humphrey, Dr. Anne-Marie Cecala and Dr. Jacob Garza, William (Deann) Reeves, Charlotte Bowsher, Geoffrey Bowsher, and Matthew Bowsher.
