Mrs. Aug. Behnke died at her home in this city last Saturday at the age of 54 years.
Deceased is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gotfried Heimke of our city. She was born in Manitowoc in 1867. In 1890 she was united in marriage to August Behnke and they took up their residence in our city and have lived here since, Mr. Behnke being engaged in the mercantile business.
Besides the sorrowing husband she is survived by two sons, Ernest and Melvin both associated with their father in the store business here. She is also survived by three brothers, William Heimke of Brillion, Charles of Green Bay and Herman of Abrahams. Also two sisters, Mrs. Henry Schmahl of Collins and Miss Mary Heimke of Brillion.
The funeral was held on Tuesday and was one of the largest ever held here. Services were conducted at the Lutheran Church, Rev. Sauer preaching a beautiful sermon.
