MUSCATINE, Iowa - Dorothy Alice Beason, 75, of Muscatine, died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her children, on Saturday, March 8, 2003.

Services will be at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Rev. Sharon Phillips will officiate. Burial will be in Island Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Beason, Craig Beason, Danny Chick Jr., Joshua Beason, Jeremy Williams, William Beason Jr. and Matthew Fee. Honorary bearers will be Scott Beason, Brian Chick and Joseph Beason.

Memorials may be made to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation.

Mrs. Beason was born August 16, 1927, in Muscatine, the daughter of William and Mable Moomey Hatfield. She married Johnnie Beason on August 4, 1945, at Musserville United Methodist Church in Muscatine.

She was a member of the VFW; American Legion; Ladies of the Moose and volunteered at Unity Hospital.

She loved and was proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Enjoyed the flowers in her yard, dancing, baking, cooking, bingo and bowling.

She worked for the Muscatine School District, George's Steak House, Sunset Inn, Huttig's, Thatcher Glass and the Pantry.

Survivors include her husband, Johnnie Beason, of Muscatine; five sons, Johnnie Beason Jr. and his wife, Sandy, of Osage, Iowa; Michael Beason and his wife, Barb, of Muscatine; Patrick Beason and his wife, Jeanie, of Muscatine; William Beason and his wife, Anna, of Muscatine; Derrin Beason and his wife, Wenda, of Muscatine; three daughters, Peggy Chick and her husband, Danny, of Muscatine; Susan Ryan and her husband, C.J., of Muscatine; Julie Fee and her husband, Dale, of Bettendorf; 23 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; four brothers, Walter Hatfield, of Muscatine; Edward Hatfield, of Muscatine; Ted Hatfield, of Muscatine; Tom Hatfield, of Longmont, Colorado; and four sisters, Genevieve McDaniel, of Muscatine; Shirley Dieckman, of Muscatine; Judy Peterson, of Davenport, and Jane Morgan, of Muscatine.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Dorothy Lynn and Denise Sue, one great granddaughter, Karlee, and two brothers, William and Robert Hatfield.
