Daughter of the Rev. Oscar E. Harris and Jean Addis Harris. She was married to Charles Russel Gouveia of Peoria on Aug. 16, 1936, at the Congregational Church in Canton, by the Rev. D.G. Davis. Her husband predeceased her on March 30, 1964.

She attended Canton, Ill., schools, graduating from Canton High School in 1929, attended Bradley University, graduating in 1933, and returned to Canton after graduation to teach English. She returned to Bradley and obtained her master's degree in 1966, and was a teacher and later guidance director at Farmington East High School in Farmington, Ill., from 1966 until her retirement in 1977.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Irene B. McDaniel.

Mrs. Gouveia is survived by a son, Charles H. Gouveia and wife, Pat Haynes; daughter, Annice M. Gouveia and husband, Chip Ravenscroft; grandchildren, Mary Annice "Mary Ann" Gouveia Riggs and husband, Randy and Charles Christopher "Chris" Gouveia; three great-grandchildren, Alyssa Marie Riggs, Isabella Jane Riggs and Charles Isaac Gouveia; her brother, Lloyd Addis Harris; four nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
