Hope Marie (Gurwell) Garland was born on Tuesday; December 30, 1924 in Des Moines; Polk County, Iowa. She was the daughter of: Paul and Myrtle Gurwell. On March 9, 1946, Hope was united in marriage to Milford Garland in Des Moines. She was a homemaker. She had many hobbies and loved doing crafts, drawing, sketching, attending family activities, sporting events, cooking for her family, and gardening. Everyone who met her loved her. Hope Marie (Gurwell) Garland, age: 87, passed away on Monday; March 12, 2012 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iowa. Those left to mourn her passing are: Her beloved husband for 66 years: Milford Garland. Her children: Jim (Laureen) Garland of Marshalltown, Iowa, Kathy (John) West of Laurel; Marshall County, Iowa, Teri (Bill) Beck of Garwin; Tama County, Iowa, Stephani (John) Siemens of San Antonio; Bexar County, Texas, Pat (Nancy) Garland of Marshalltown, Iowa and Carrie Espe of Ankeny; Polk County, Iowa. Her eighteen grandchildren, her forty-four great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. Her brother: Mickey Gurwell. Hope joins in eternal life her parents, her siblings: Jeanie Gurwell, John Gurwell, Paul Gurwell, Bette Martin, and her granddaughter Natasha. May they rest in peace. May God bless her memory and give strength to those that mourn. There will be no visitation. A celebration of life service was held for Hope M. Garland on Thursday; March 15, 2012 at the Iowa Veterans Home with Chaplain Angela Doty officiating. Inurnment was at the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery.
