Kenneth E. Gumbs, better known as “Puppy” or “Godfather,” of Peterborg died on Dec. 16, at 85, at his residence. He is survived by his wife Olivia S. Gumbs; stepson and wife: Dr. Austin O. and Jiltrice Williams; stepdaughters and husband: Averil C. Willliams, Cheryl P. Porter and Christopher Porter Sr.;step-daughter-in-law, Kim King;stepgrandchildren: Julianna O. King (goddaughter), Devoni Williams, Vincent M. King, Avaniece J. King, Chanteria Porter, Austin O. Williams Jr., Dominique King, Cherika Porter, Jiltrice Williams (Ge-Ge), Christoper Porter Jr. and Christalia Porter; brother and wife: Dudley and Brently Gumbs; and sister, Eileen Gumbs-Pemberton.

He is also survived by brothers–in-law and wives: Egbert and Patricia Williams; Vernon Sr. and Verna Williams; Myron Williams; Terrance and Angella Williams, and Ray and Denise Williams;sisters-in law and husband: Victoria George and Dale George Sr., and Malvina Daniel; nieces: Lynette Gumbs, Charmaine Gumbs, Cora Gumbs-Kelly, Melsadous Gumbs, Valerie Gumbs, Eileen Gumbs-Pondt and Chora Gumbs and nephews: Adolph Gumbs, Elston Gumbs, Alston Gumbs, Robert Gumbs, Terrance Gumbs, Lacill Gumbs, Franklyn Gumbs, Elbert Gumbs, Calvin Gumbs, Wendell Gumbs, Mackey Gumbs, Michael Gumbs and Ian Gumbs. Other survivors include cousins: Howard Gumbs, Arnold Gumbs, Ralph Gumbs, Doreen Gumbs, Mariel Gumbs, Pearline Gumbs, Judith Gumbs, Miread Gumbs and Eda Gumbs; as well as A host of other relatives and friends.

There will be a viewing held at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. Interment will be at Eastern Cemetery. All arrangements are by Davis Funeral Home, 774-1464.
