Belarmino "Bill" Girón, age 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2015, surrounded by family and friends.
Belarmino was preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe and Juanita Girón, brothers, Victor Jirón and his wife, Mary, Ralph Jirón and his wife, Flosela Jirón and Guadalupe "Lupe" Girón, sisters, Amalia Serna and her husband, Nash, María Elena and her husband, Florindo and Ramona Jirón and children, Roberto Steven Girón and Anna Marie Girón.
Belarmino is survived by his wife, Frances Chávez Girón, brother, Orlando Girón and his wife, Tres, sister-in-law, Fernie Girón, his children, Rosina and her husband, Rusty Ervin, Juanita Girón, Carlos Girón and his wife, Tekla, David Michael Girón and his wife, Teresa, Rick Girón and Ernesto Girón, his 13 grandchildren, Tobas Ervin, Crystal and her husband, Kevin Miller, Aubrey Booher, Andy Girón, Billy Girn, Hunter Girón, Nova Girón, Maritza Franco, Tia Girón, Joseph Girón, Elijah Girón and Tomas Girón, six great-grandchildren, McKaylin and Jordan Ervin, Aedin, Skyelar and Lief Miller and Lia Fisher and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Prior to Bill's retirement in 1987, he had a distinguished career as a public service, e.g. served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1948 until 1952 attaining the rank of Sergeant, among other key positions, he was a Consultant to the United States Department of State, Administrative Aid to Governor King and Assistant to the State of New Mexico Commissioner of Public Lands of Finance and Administration, to mention a few.
A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Pojoaque, NM with visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Pojoaque, NM with reception and food immediately following the ceremony in the Parish Hall. The burial procession will commence at 2:00 p.m. and proceed to Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM for the 3:00 p.m. burial ceremony.
The family thanks everybody for their thoughts and prayers.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Belarmino's name to the Sombrillo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Employee Fund, 1010 Sombrillo Ct., Los Alamos, NM 87544.
