ALMEDA FREELAND--99: died late Saturday evening [11-7] at SanRosario Hosp-Cambridge Springs after an illness of 2 weeks. She was the last of 9 children of MosesB & Susan Hass Hall; her father lived to the age of 103. Mrs Freeland received the borough's [Cambridge Springs] "golden cane" award as the oldest resident 5yrs ago.
She was born at Hartstown 16 Mar 1865, a few weeks before the end of the Civil War. In 1888 she married DrCharles Freeland, an optometrist who began practice at Cambridge Springs in 1906. He died in 1935. MrsFreeland was a member of Cambridge Springs First Methodist Church.
She is survived by 5 children: Sarah (sp-Ben) Faust-MillCreek; Paul R Allen-Downey CA; JosC Freeland-Bradford; AMerritt-LawrencePrk & Dr CharlesD with whom she had made her home; 18 grandchildren; numerous gr-grandchildren & several gr-gr grandchildren.
Service will be held Wednesday afternoon [11-11] at Wm VanMatre Funrl Home-Cambridge Springs with RevEdw Donner-CambridgeSprings First Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be at WatsonRun Cem.
