Gene was born on May 18, 1926 in Marionville, MO, son of the late Charles N. “Charlie” Forrester and Beulah (Fricks) Forrester. Following his school years, Gene served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. After enlistment, he was stationed in Columbia, S.C. and then transferred to Colorado Springs, CO. Lastly, Gene was stationed in Germany before his honorable discharge on May 26, 1953.
After serving in the military, he returned home and started working in the construction business in Missouri and then moved to California for several years. In 1966, Gene returned to Missouri to fulfill his lifelong dream of owning and operating a successful cattle ranch.
On June 29, 1952 in Eureka Springs, AR, Gene and Anna Lee Miller were united in marriage. They shared sixty-four wonderful years together.
Gene is survived by his wife, Anna Lee, of the home; and numerous extended family and friends.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Melvin and Wilburn Forrester; and one sister, Verna Gray.
Funeral services for Mr. Forrester will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at Buchanan Funeral Home, 301 Euclid Ave., Monett, MO. Interment and military honors will follow at Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora, MO. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. In memory of Gene, memorial contributions can be made to Three Rivers Hospice in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home.
