WANATAH -- Viola G. Fitzgerald, 73, of Wanatah, died Wednesday, May 24, 1995, at Porter Memorial Hospital, Valparaiso.
She was born Sept. 13, 1921, in Valparaiso, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Varner) Gast.
A retired tavern owner and rural mail carrier, she was a member of Sacred Heart Church of Wanatah and Royal Neighbors.
On April 29, 1939, in Valparaiso, she married Oscar Fitzgerald, who preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1990.
Surviving are a daughter, Judith (Richard) Goodpaster of Kouts; a son, James (Joyce) Fitzgerald of Wanatah; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
Services 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Church, Wanatah; Father Jerry Schweitzer officiating; burial at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso; visitation 4-8 p.m. Friday at Peek Funeral Home, Wanatah; Prayer Virgil 8 p.m.
