VAN BUREN – Ernestine Doucette, 92, died peacefully Monday, August 17, 2015, at a Van Buren healthcare facility. She was born May 13, 1923 in Van Buren, a daughter of the late Hubert and Anastasie (Lausier) Doumont.

She was a devoted homemaker and praised herself for raising her children and doting her husband. Ernestine was a wonderful cook and enjoyed providing her family many meals and always had a pie in the oven. She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post #49, Van Buren, and the former Third Order of Mary.

She is survived by: three sons, Donald Doucette and his wife Gail of Meriden, CT, Michael Doucette of Van Buren and Alan Doucette and his wife Shirley of Havre de Grace, MD; one sister, Germaine Aldrich of Hartford, CT; four grandchildren, David, Allison, Crystal & Jade; seven great grandchildren, Andrew, Joey, Hunter, Samuel, Isabelle, Mallory & Khloe; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Ernestine is predeceased by her husband, Edmond Doucette in 2000, and many brothers and sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
